What does it mean?
Implementing Solutions means addressing the causes of living wage gaps and closing them. This includes setting commitments and targets, prioritising suppliers or sites, improving procurement practices, strengthening human resource and wage systems, optimising operations, and supporting workers’ voice and social dialogue. Because living wages rely on shared responsibility, collaboration with suppliers, workers, unions, government institutions, and peers is essential.

What we have seen in sectors like sugarcane and palm oil is that some of the root causes of not paying a living wage include outsourcing, anti union measures, informality, piece rates, extreme working hours, poor occupational health and safety, and a lack of decent living conditions.
